This amazing beach is located just after the " Lido " (also known with its full name of " Lido di San Giovanni ", that becomes " Saint John' shore " in English), at a very short distance from the historic center of the Catalan city.

The beach at Maria Pia is quieter than the Lido. It also has very little seaweed so no nasty smells like the Lido. The sea here is so clear - lots of little fish swimming in the shallows.. Arrival is through a pine forest 2 minutes walk from the main road, where there is car park for about 5 euros a day. it is possible to arrive from Alghero by bus or on foot, about 1/2 hour walk. it is possible to rent parasols in some parts of the beach but useful to bring your own. A rest in the pine forest at lunch time is superb.

The 2 km long sandy beach Pineta di Maria Pia is located in the bay of Alghero in the direction of the airport town Fertilia. Free and paid parking is available on the lakeside road behind the beach. There is also a bus connection and a beautiful cycle path. The beach is gently sloping and the water is mostly clear.
